Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough is used for:
Temporarily relieving cough due to the common cold, upper respiratory tract infections, sinus inflammation, sore throat, or bronchitis.
Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough is a combination of an expectorant (guaifenesin) and a cough suppressant (dextromethorphan). It works by loosening mucus and lung secretions in the chest and making coughs more productive.
Do NOT use Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough if:
- you are allergic to any ingredient in Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough
- you have taken furazolidone or a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (eg, phenelzine) within the last 14 days
- you are taking a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) (eg, fluoxetine)

Before using Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough:
Some medical conditions may interact with Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough. Tell your health care provider if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:
- if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
- if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
- if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
- if you have a history of chronic cough, lung problems (eg, chronic bronchitis, emphysema), asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or if your cough occurs with large amounts of mucus
Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough. Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:
- Furazolidone, MAOIs (eg, phenelzine), or SSRIs (eg, fluoxetine) because the risk of toxic side effects may be increased by Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough

How to use Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough:
Use Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- Take Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough by mouth with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.
- To help Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough work, drink plenty of extra fluids while taking Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough, unless your health care provider instructed otherwise.
- If you miss a dose of Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough and you are taking it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.

Important safety information:
- Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough may cause drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, or lightheadedness. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.
- If your cough lasts for more than 1 week or comes back, or if you also have a fever, rash, or persistent headache, contact your health care provider. A persistent cough could be a sign of a serious condition.
- Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough has dextromethorphan in it. Before you start any new medicine, check the label to see if it has dextromethorphan in it too. If it does or if you are not sure, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
- Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough should not be used in CHILDREN younger than 2 years old; safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed.
- PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough while you are pregnant. It is not known if Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough is found in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough.
Possible side effects of Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough:
All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome:
Dizziness; drowsiness; stomach upset.
Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue).

Store Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough at room temperature, between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Coricidin HBP Congestion/Cough out of the reach of children and away from pets.
